The Book of Ezekiel

                 Chapter 22

The City Defiled

Ezekiel 22:1 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Father has completed explaining the parable of chapter 20. It covered their sins of the past and now He will cover their present sins.

Ezekiel 22:2 Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations.

Wilt thou judge the bloody city? Bloody because of the murders and the sacrificing of children to the pagan god Molech.

Who did they murder? Well, Christ, for one. The prophets, for another.

Ezekiel 22:3 Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord God, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.

Tell them that these are the words of Adonai Yahaveh, NOT the words of Ezekiel. Ezekiel is not going to be the one to judge them, Father is.

That her time may come. Instead of taking to heart the admonishments of our Father, they continue to ignore Him and build her idols.

Maketh idols against herself to defile herself. This is written of in the book of Proverbs as well:

Ref: Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. KJV.

When you sin against the Father you’re not hurting Him, you’re hurting yourself. And if you hate the Father and all His statutes and Commandments, you must certainly love death, a spiritual death, because that’s what you’ve got coming to you.

She defiled herself with spiritual leaders that didn’t teach from the Book, but rather taught from their own minds, speaking their own words.

Ezekiel 22:4 Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

And hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made. Father didn’t make those idols, they did. Father didn’t place those children on those outstretched arms of Molech, they did. Father said that it never crossed His mind that people should do such a thing to their own children…

Ref: Jeremiah 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. KJV

Look around today at the houses of God that routinely molest our young boys. And then these so-called religious leaders are moved to a different area so that they can be hidden from prosecution and presented with a new crop of children to molest.

Why don’t the people that make up the congregation of some of these churches rise up and demand that civil law be enforced in these situations? Put these predators in prison where they belong. Oh, no, we can’t do that, they’re men of the cloth. Let’s just move them to another part of the country or maybe even to a different country. Sweep it all under the carpet so the unsuspecting cannot see them coming.

And a mocking to all countries. Even the nations around her see the wrong that she is doing. And they will understand when the judgment finally arrives upon her, there will be no reproach from them towards the Father.

And thou hast caused thy days to draw near. The days of the siege by Nebuchadnezzar. These are the shorter times.

And art come even unto thy years. The longer times.

Ezekiel 22:5 Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.

We’re still talking about the other nations here. The very nations from which Judah took the idols and practices from. They knew within themselves that what they were doing was wrong and they didn’t even have our Father pointing that out to them.

That’s why they mock Judah and Jerusalem. They were supposed to be the favorites of God and they act just like they do. They don’t even listen to their own God.

This word vexed means to be confused:

Vexed_ OT:4103 mehuwmah (meh-hoo-maw'); from OT:1949; confusion or uproar:

Confused by who? The sword of the king of Babylon, which is a type of Satan/Antichrist yet to come.

Ezekiel 22:6 Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.

The princes of Israel. Their political and religious leaders. They were the ones that were supposed to teach and lead the people down the path of righteousness but instead, enjoyed the pagan practices themselves.

They were also the ones in charge and had the power to shed  blood, to cause blood to be spilled, to order the blood letting.

Ezekiel 22:7 In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

In thee have they set light by father and mother. They have disrespected their father and their mother. From Deuteronomy we have:

Ref: Deuteronomy 27:16 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. KJV

In Deuteronomy, there are eleven consecutive verses that begin with the word cursed.

In thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow. The helpless. This word vexed is not the same word as previously used in verse 5, this vexed means to be violent to the helpless:

Vexed_OT:3238 yanah (yaw-naw'); a primitive root; to rage or be violent: by implication, to suppress, to maltreat:

What does all this mean? The princes of Israel had the power to kill and murder and to shed blood. And those that weren’t murdered were abused. Even the heathen nations knew that what Judah was doing was wrong in the eyes of our Father.

From verse 7 through verse 12 are listed the sins that they did in opposition to the law given by Moses. Judah doesn’t care about our Father or His laws or whether He loves them or not. They are totally interested in self.

And what is the greatest example of idol worship today? The worship of one’s self. How good we can be, what great things we can do to make ourselves look good. It’s also called humanism today. The thought of attaching importance to human matters rather than the divine.

There’s one ‘ole boy every Sunday morning on TV that wants to tell you how you can use the Scriptures to become wealthy. Be all you can be, as a human being. He doesn’t tell the crowd how to receive the blessings of our Father because they teach that we don’t need our Father for anything. We can do it all ourselves.

Trillions of dollars over decades, spent on expeditions to other planets to find the origin of life on this planet. We, as human beings, will find out where we came from, never looking to our Father for that information.

Many don’t believe that Father exists, much less, that He was the One that created it all in the beginning. Mankind is still out there looking for their beginning.

Ezekiel 22:8 Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

The Temple and the worship performed therein. Taking a tree, trimming off the branches and crudely shaping it into something that resembles a male penis and putting it right there inside the Temple itself! Whore houses just down the street from the Temple, with male and female prostitutes offering themselves to anyone that may want to step in for a while.

Christ kicked out the money changers from the Temple when He was here, think what He might have done had He been alive during these times.

Having little children search for Easter eggs on the lawn of the church on the highest of Sabbaths, Passover. They don’t know any better or any different. All they’re looking for is some candy, while the parents encourage them to find more and more, teaching them that the Easter bunny is more important than our Lord being crucified.

“Look at little Sally over there, all decked out in her pink Easter dress, running around looking for Easter eggs.”

This is how we parents express our love for our children, by teaching them heathenistic practices?

Ezekiel 22:9 In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.

Men that carry tales to shed blood. Men giving false witness. The tops of mountains are where their holy places are. They eat of the sacrifices offered to pagan idols while having their drunken orgies that they call religious worship.

Ezekiel 22:10 In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.

Do you remember what their father’s nakedness means? It means that they have slept with their own mother. This is first written of in Genesis 9:22 and 23:

Ref: Genesis 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

Ref: Genesis 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. KJV

     Verse 22.

Ezekiel 22:11 And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

This is also written of in Leviticus, chapter 18 and it includes the same women as given here in Ezekiel. It’s called incest and it goes on even today, in 2018.

Just out-and-out paganism, adhering to NO ONES’S laws.

Ezekiel 22:12 In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God.

They taken gifts to shed blood. They paid mercenaries to come in and murder people.

Thou hast taken usury and increase. They charged interest on a loan to their own people, something that they were only supposed to do to a heathen.

Thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion. Pay me some money or I will expose what you’ve done.

Ezekiel 22:13 Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

Father claps His hands together in disgust at what they’ve done. He doesn’t mind if someone makes a lot of money in a legal business, doing things according to His instructions but when you get rich by cheating the other person or in business transactions, He doesn’t like that and He will not bless the work of your hands when you do so.

You can outsmart the world and make a ton of money but unless you do it His way, it will all be for naught. You might even get away with it your entire life but there will come a day when you will stand before Him and give an account.

And to make things right with Him, you must rid yourself of all that ill-gotten gain and sometimes that’s too difficult for a person to do. He gave us an example of this in the book of Matthew…

Ref: Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Ref: Matthew 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

He couldn’t give up the luxurious life that he was living.

Ref: Matthew 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. KJV

Could you give up all that you have if He were standing right in front of you and asking you to do this? It’s a lot easier to ignore His call when He is NOT standing before you. This man in Matthew had ill-gotten gain and still wanted to hang on to all of it.

Ezekiel 22:14 Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it.

Are you strong enough to endure the coming judgment? Ripping somebody off is putting a chain around your neck and it’s very difficult to get rid of it. You are not going to be strong when you stand before Him because you didn’t do it His way.

Ezekiel 22:15 And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

Both houses were dispersed to some extent, although Judah not as much as Israel, but Judah is coming back and even more so after 1948. Many Russian Jews received visas allowing them to return to Israel after that time, when it looked like it would never happen.

     Father’s hand at work.

Ezekiel 22:16 And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

What was the inheritance of this city of Jerusalem? You can find it back in the 16th chapter, in verses 62 and 63, that is, the heritage that Father blessed this city…

Ref: Ezekiel 16:62 And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord:

Ref: Ezekiel 16:63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God. KJV

He established an eternal covenant with that city and He will return there shortly. The Arabs can try to take control of one-half of that city and call it their capitol, but it will never happen. Father will see to it that it will never happen.

People don’t take the time to see and realize that He is working among us. He’s not just sitting up there in space just waiting for Judgment Day, so He can punish a lot of people and He’s also not just sitting up there, patiently watching as we do our best to destroy this planet.

We live in flesh and blood bodies that stink if not washed regularly and we think that we are just so smart, that we have figured out all the answers, without ever consulting with Him.

Well, here’s a tip for you: you’re going to get old, you’re going to wither up and die and all the knowledge and wisdom that you’ve accumulated throughout your lifetime can be summed up in the contents of a teaspoon.

Unless you’ve gotten that knowledge and wisdom from Him.

Ezekiel 22:17 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

     Father continues…

Ezekiel 22:18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.

Do you know what dross is? It’s slag from a hot, molten furnace and it’s worthless. Slag is the worthless material that clings to gold or silver before it’s purified by melting in a hot furnace. Father is saying that the house of Israel is worthless. Why? Because they don’t listen to Him. They’ve got all the answers, they’ve got it all figured out.

Ezekiel 22:19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

He’s going to take all these worthless people and put them in the middle of Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 22:20 As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

He’s going to purify you with fire. The good, He will pour out and save, and the bad, the slag, will be cast off to the side. You’re going to be tested by Him.

Father has a book called the Book of Life and everything that you do is written therein. The bad stuff that you repent of is erased and hopefully, all that’s left will be your good works. Some peoples works are like straw and the fire will burn them up and they will disappear.

Some are like gold and silver and they will be saved and cherished, and rewards will be handed out for them.

Ezekiel 22:21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.

When you blow on the fire under the smelting pot you make the fire hotter, the better to separate the good from the bad.

If you have repented of your sins and your works are good, you have nothing to worry about, concerning this fire. This fire, by the way, is the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 22:22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the Lord have poured out my fury upon you.

What are you made of? Straw and wood or gold and silver?

Ezekiel 22:23 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

     Father continues…

Ezekiel 22:24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

Thou art the land that is not cleansed. It hasn’t been cleared or cultivated, nor cleansed by the fire of correction from the filthiness that she is living in.

From the Targum: ``a land not cleansed it is, and good works are not done in it, to protect it in the day of cursing:''

Nor rained upon. This is a violent rain, not one of teaching nor is it the former or latter rain. The doctrine of the prophets fell like rain on the people, who promptly ignored those words and sometimes killed the prophet.

Ezekiel 22:25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

You will notice that it says, her prophets, not Father’s prophets. These are false teachers, false preachers.

They have devoured souls. Through the teaching of the rapture theory and the fly-away doctrine. They have caused the people to believe a lie, they will have caused the people to be a partaker of the Apostasy.

This will only affect those that are alive and are here when Satan comes in his role as the Antichrist. Those who have passed on before he arrives in Jerusalem, this will have no effect on them. Yes, they believed a lie, but they didn’t act upon it during their lifetime, so it is of no consequence.

It hurt our Father that they were too lazy to find out the truth on their own and some that are alive when Satan comes, may experience the Millennium because He has protected them.

How would you feel if you spent your adult life believing a lie when you so loved the Lord? How would that make you feel? I hope that you would feel spiritually violated.

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Her priests have violated my law. They have ignored His law. They made up their own laws, their own feast days.

They have put no difference between the holy and profane. They stand there at sunrise, on Passover morning, with their backs towards the Temple and worship the sun as it rises. On the day that Christ rose from the tomb.

And I am profaned among them.

“Yes, God spoke to me this morning.”

They teach things in their churches that Father never told them to teach but they do it to make themselves look important, to up-stage their rival down the street.

“I am much holier that that other guy so come to our church and bring your money with you.”

Ezekiel 22:27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

They are like ravening wolves, drooling at the mouth to get their hands on a soul and deliver it to their god, Satan. Teaching things that Father never told them to teach.

To get dishonest gain. They do it for the money. You know what, some of these preachers, at some of these larger churches, make a pretty good paycheck for preaching according to fathers of that particular denomination.

Some are nondenominational, striking out on their own, making millions and millions of dollars a year. Some even turned away people that were left homeless from the last hurricane that came through Louisiana. They were wet and dirty and they didn’t want them messing up the fabric on their new chairs.

“Hey, we just had everything refurbished, we don’t want it messed up by those people.”

And only after the news media picked up on the story did they give some pitiful excuse or reason for turning those people away.

Ezekiel 22:28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.

Untempered morter. Remember reading those words back in chapter 13?

Ref: Ezekiel 13:11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. KJV

It was one big whitewash job. Lies and deception.

Saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken. There you have it. They speak their own words and attribute them to our Father and He said that He never told them to say that. Fly-away doctrines and rapture theories.

Ezekiel 22:29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

And exercised robbery. By withholding the truth from them. They robbed them of spiritual happiness through their lies and deception.

And have vexed the poor and needy. This word vexed means violence, just like earlier. Ripping off old people who live on next to nothing but selling them prayer cloths and glow-in-the-dark crucifixes. Telling them to send them their money and THEY will talk to our Father and get some blessings flowing towards them.

Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

There were none that were righteous. This reminds me of when Abraham was bartering with our Father before He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. There was not one righteous man or woman in those cities.

Ezekiel 22:31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads?, saith the Lord God. KJV

Judgment is coming and their own works will destroy them.
