The Book of Jeremiah

Chapter 16

Symbol, No Wife

This will be the 11th of 51 specific prophesies, given by the Holy Spirit to Jeremiah, to be given to the people of Judah.

Jeremiah 16:1 The word of the Lord came also unto me, saying,

What did the Word of the Lord say to Jeremiah?

Jeremiah 16:2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.

This is not a commandment that should be taken literally, as it is symbolic, and Father will make this clearer further into this chapter. Symbolically, there is no need for Jeremiah to marry and have children because Father is going to annihilate all of Judah anyway.

      Or so it seems.

In another sense, it symbolizes that there is no time left, to marry and have children, because the enemy, Babylon, is just over the hill and coming fast.

What did our Lord say about "running out of time" when Satan/Antichrist is near, during these end times?

✡ Matthew 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

✡ Matthew 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. KJV

There is no need to get a change of clothing, or take a shower or fix a sandwich....time has run out. If you haven't prepared yourself spiritually you're going to be deceived by Satan/Antichrist. That's it.

The enemy of these end times is, of course, Satan in his role as the Antichrist, and he is approaching the hill and will be here soon. He is “Babylon” here in Jeremiah and he is "Babylon" of these end times. The prime root of the word Babylon is babel and it means confusion and confusion it WILL produce because Satan/Antichrist looks EXACTLY like the true Jesus Christ.

     Jeremiah 16:3 For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;

Mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. Listen up.

Jeremiah 16:4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

I want you to think of this verse in the spiritual sense and I want you to put yourself right in the middle of it all.

What is a “grievous death” spiritually? It’s the death of a soul that didn’t need to happen. That’s what makes it so grievous. It was senseless because that soul had every opportunity to seek out the truth of Father’s Word and was too lazy to do it.

They let their preacher and some church organization tell them THEIR version of the truth. And when the tribulation of Satan/Antichrist begins and all these church-goers, that believed that they were going to be raptured out of all this, find themselves elbow-deep in the deception of their church fathers and Satan/Antichrist and realize that they are STILL HERE, it’s going to be a grievous time indeed.

Put yourself on a higher plane, a higher elevation, and look out across this great land, spiritually, and see the dead bodies, the souls, that are headed straight to the Lake of Fire. They’re laying on the ground out there, spiritually lifeless, as piles of horse manure, waiting for the birds of prey to pick at their bones.

Does that remind you of the "dry bones" of Ezekiel 37:1-6? It should. And what brought those bones back to life? Teaching and preaching the TRUE Word of God.

Jeremiah 16:5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the Lord, even lovingkindness and mercies.

And Father tells those souls, those that have His seal in their minds, His truths, not to mourn for them, don’t lament them, don’t feel sorry for them because He, Himself, has forsaken them. He has taken His loving kindness and mercy away from them.

They made their minds up early in life that they were going to live in this world according to Satan’s rules and commandments and seek out each and every pleasure that they could, regardless of whether it was right or wrong.

Father didn’t put a cloak of innocency over these souls, so there isn’t going to be a time for them during the Millennium, a time to learn the truth. No. They forsook the truth early in life and adhered to their unrighteous ways until the very end.

Figuratively, dead bodies and souls covering the earth.

I see these church buildings, Monday through Saturday, empty and dark, doors bolted shut. A person couldn’t get in there if he had a sledgehammer and was beating on the door itself. And why would anyone WANT to get inside? There’s nothing there anyway.

And then comes Sunday morning, the organ or piano is just a-going, loud voices from behind the podium, people singing and stomping their feet to the beat of some well-known hymn, arms raised and praising the Lord.

Go out on the street and you can hear the singing and music blocks away, other people with smiles on their faces, thinking that the Lord is having His way with them that morning.

Sorry, but for all that singing and noise and effort, not one word of our Father’s Word will be preached there that morning. And it will eventually all wind down, everyone will leave, the building will become silent once more and the doors will be bolted shut, again, until next week.

     Dead once more.

Jeremiah 16:6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:

That was the traditional way of showing sorrow…cutting themselves and shaving their heads. These were heathen practices and Father spoke against them in Leviticus…

Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. KJV

Did you read the last part of that verse? Nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. That’s referring to the art of tattooing the body. Seen any of that going on lately?

“Oh, but you don’t understand, brother, I have this beautiful rose tattooed right there on my face for the entire world to see.”

You bet, and it will be there forever and ever, until the day that you die. I guess people should be allowed to do this if they want to, but have they ever considered what they’ll look like when they’re old and wrinkled and saggy?

Paganism and heathenism. Body piercings and large holes in their earlobes, called "ear stretching" or "lobe gauging". The hole itself called a "flesh tunnel". Don’t we see this kind of thing on the Discovery channel with natives down in Africa?

Is this what we’ve come to today? And they want to call it "body art"?

Jeremiah 16:7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

Father taught against these practices in Deuteronomy…

Deuteronomy 26:14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. KJV

     Verse 8.

Jeremiah 16:8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.

Do you understand what Father has been saying since verse 1? He has deserted them and it’s because of their sins and their way of living without Him. They love the way that they’re living, worshipping idols made of stone or metal, with no thought of repentance, and He’s had it with them.

He’s telling them that they are as good as dead, spiritually. There is no reason for them to be happy because the Babylonians are within sight. The city of Jerusalem is going to fall to them and many of them will be taken captive.

Jeremiah is told to leave them alone. Don’t eat and drink with them, don’t comfort them, don’t console them, because Father has given them up as lost.

If it takes captivity to turn their heads around, then so be it and it’s coming.

How about you? Has He given up on you yet? Are the accumulated sins become too much for Him to overlook? Has He turned away and counted you as hopeless?

“Well, I don’t see any blessings going on in my life and I don’t do all that much wrong.”

Really? Where do you go to church every Sunday morning? Do they teach Father’s Word there or is it just a verse or two to try to back up some sermon that came down from the hierarchy on Friday? Do you study the Bible when you get home from some church? Do you tithe there and believe in the rapture theory and the any-moment doctrine?

Jeremiah 16:9 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

Why would Father cause joy and mirth and the voice of gladness to stop among these peoples? Because it doesn’t include HIM. They’re living their lives according to how THEY want to live, according to the pleasures of Satan’s world, and that's gotten mankind into trouble since day one.

Their happiness is for naught if it doesn’t include worshipping our Father. Or repenting of their many sins. They’re going into captivity and there is little happiness under those conditions.

Jeremiah 16:10 And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?

Jeremiah, you’re going to tell the people what I’ve just said and this is going to be their reaction…

Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? Why is He doing this to us?

Or what is our iniquity? What is our sin that we should be taken from our land and placed somewhere else?

Or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?

Do they really not know or are they just being facetious? I mean, really? Truth is, they're listening to their false prophets and not our Father.

Father has an answer for them in the next verse…

     Jeremiah 16:11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the Lord, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

Judah is not being punished for the sins of their fathers, they’re being punished because the sins of their fathers CONTINUE with this same generation. They CONTINUE to worship OTHER GODS, other than the Father.

Pieces of stone or metal that cannot stand up on their own, cannot walk from one place to another without being carried by someone. They cannot perform miracles or lead them successfully into battle.

They have abandoned Him and His commandments and live according to their own laws and desires.

Look around at the world you live in today. There is no respect for civil law today. Police officers are assassinated in their own radio cars as they park somewhere to watch the streets.

A law was recently passed in California that says that a student cannot be disciplined for not obeying the instructions of the teacher. In other words, a teacher can try to bring a class to order so as to teach them something and a bunch of thugs can stand up and tell him/her to go to hell and the teacher can’t do a thing about it.

What kind of law is that? It’s a law that takes discipline out of the classroom. From now on, it’s anything goes, as far as the students are concerned.

The LAW is being rewritten to allow civil disobedience with no consequences.

Jeremiah 16:12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

They’re even worse than their parents or grandparents. Whatever kind of evil thing that they can think of in their minds, that’s what they do.

Jeremiah 16:13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

So, Father tells them, through Jeremiah, that because they refuse to listen to Him and repent, that they’re going into captivity and be taken to a land that they’ve never been to before.

Where I will not shew you favour. He’s not going to make it easy for them and He’s not going to bless them. It’s a PUNISHMENT for repeatedly disobeying His commandments for generation after generation.

Don’t forget what was said earlier in this chapter…their FALSE PROPHETS are telling them that everything is going to be alright, they’re not going into captivity, Jeremiah is full of it. No wonder they’re saying…

“Why are you doing this to us, Lord?”

Let's look at the big picture for a moment. Daniel and Ezekiel were prophesying at the same time as Jeremiah, they were just doing it in different locations.

And while Jeremiah was in Jerusalem, talking to Judah, he was only ONE MAN. The people numbered nearly a million with many, many false prophets, false preachers, little antichrists or whatever name you want to give them. Jeremiah was up against some heavy competition.

If Jeremiah were alive and prophesying today he would face the same problem. There are millions and millions of people belonging to the same religion that are taught the rapture theory and take it as Gods' own truth. Why? Because they believe the false prophets and don't read the Bible for themselves, to check these boys out, to see if they're telling the truth or not.

“You don’t have to worry about the end times, you’re going to be gone. You don’t have to read and understand that the false messiah comes BEFORE the true Messiah, you’re going to be gone! Out of here! Raptured away.”

That’s what the FALSE PROPHETS of today are saying. The “captivity” of today is a church system, a religious organization that exists to promote the lies of Satan, to increase membership, increase the flow of money, and educate the people, according to the “truths” of some man or some board of men and women that decide what the truth is.

“Well, ‘ole Joe down the street has his own religion. I think I’ll start one, change things up just a little bit, make it more palatable to more people, and I’ll make more money than he does.”

      Then here comes ‘ole Fred…..

“Well, those two guys have it all wrong. I’ll tell people that they don’t have to do ANYTHING to get into heaven and I’ll have more money and more people coming to my church than the both of them.”

New religions and it didn’t take that much to accomplish it. Tell the people what they want to hear, make it seem so easy to get into heaven, and let the good times roll. All the way to the bank for the preachers and into the camp of Satan/Antichrist for the others.

     Jeremiah 16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

The context here is that the punishment of the captivity and the eventual release thereof will be greater than the release from the bondage in Egypt.

In the next three verses, Father extends an olive branch to His people by promising them restoration to their homeland.

Jeremiah 16:15 But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

When He brings them back, they will remain there this time. He will not pluck them up and send them somewhere else and we will read of that when we get to chapter 24…

Jeremiah 24:6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. KJV

Father hasn’t given up on them, nor has He given up on YOU. He’s waiting for you to see how badly you are living your life away from Him and He waits patiently until you reach a place from which you think that you cannot escape on your own.

That’s the day that YOU will return to HIM.

Jeremiah 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

He will spare no effort to bring all His souls back to Him.

Jeremiah 16:17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

He sees everything, and He forgets nothing. As human beings, we hide things from OTHER human beings and we’re pretty successful at doing so, in most cases, but that is not the case with Him.

Jeremiah 16:18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double. In our usage today, recompense means to give compensation to someone for a loss. Not so back then…..

Recompense_ OT:7999 shalam (shaw-lam'); a primitive root; to be safe (in mind, body or estate); figuratively, to be (causatively, make) completed; by implication, to be friendly; by extension, to reciprocate (in various applications):

Here in this verse, it means to make safe or be safe, be friendly. What Father is saying here is that, before they go back to the homeland, that He will forgive their sins and make them safe again through the cleansing and by His presence.

Jeremiah 16:19 O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

The Gentiles will come to Him and say that they too have sinned, as did their forefathers, and they realize that there is no profit in that and will He also take them in and make them safe as well?

Jeremiah 16:20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?

Jeremiah is asking if a man can make a god and then realize that they are no god at all? And if that be so, why do they worship them?

Jeremiah 16:21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The Lord. KJV

This once. This one time will I do this, our Father says. This once refers to the coming captivity, and by doing that Judah will know the mighty hand of God and maybe change their ways from henceforth.

What is the ONE thing that really hurts our Father and drives Him to the edge of reason with us? It’s our continual worshipping of something else other than Him.

Do you realize how it grieves Him to see millions and millions of people get all dressed up and go to some supposed “house of God” and accept the lies of religious traditions over His Sacred Word?

I truly believe that if Jeremiah or Isaiah were alive today and giving us the literal Word of God, day by day, that people would mock them as a fraud or as religious nuts, make fun of them, and certainly, the news media would persecute them to the point of distraction.

What makes me really feel good inside is knowing that one day soon the two witnesses, the two Sons of Oil, will walk this earth and prophesy, just like Jeremiah and Isaiah did and when Satan/Antichrist, whom the news media will, by then, have made him into this internationally renowned figure, will kill those two and after 3 ½ days, they will rise up in front of the entire world and proclaim the glory of God Himself.

Let’s see then what the mockers and the news media have to say about that.

P.S. This is the last commentary that I will write for the year 2019. Tomorrow brings a new year and a new challenge for people. My prayer is that many will come to understand His Word more deeply and throw off the moth-eaten cloak of Satan’s religious conspiracy.

     God bless.
