Father continues from chapter 7, pronouncing the coming of more grievous calamities, beginning with the Chaldean army digging up the graves of the kings and princes of Judah.
Jeremiah 8:1 At that time, saith the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:
Who are the “they” here? It’s the Babylonians, the enemy, of course. It is disrespectful and degradation to dig up the bones of people. Why would they do that? They’re looking for booty, gold and silver, jewels, and such. Whatever was buried with these people from the king all the way down to the pauper, they will dig up and steal it.
The kings, the princes, the priests, the prophets, and the people….all different classes of people that contributed, in whole or in part, to the apostasy and the abominations of the society, political and religious.
Jeremiah 8:2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
The enemy, the Babylonians, spread these bones out on the ground and they will lie there day and night. It doesn’t matter to them whom they worshipped or walked after or served….there was no respect for any of them.
They shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. Their bones shall be as dung on the earth. It doesn’t matter who they were when they were alive or what stature they might have achieved or not achieved. That flesh and blood body is gone and all that remains is the memory associated with what’s left.
We need to take a lesson from that verse. I don’t care if you are Bob Gates or President Trump or if you’re living on the street…whatever you achieved while in a flesh and blood body is completely gone when it dies. Someone else will now own it, live in it, destroy it, sell it, or whatever. It doesn’t belong to you anymore.
What’s important is your soul and spirit and if you gave no thought as to their condition by the time your earthly body dies, if you spent all your time and energy accumulating “stuff”, you might be in a real pickle.
Jeremiah 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the Lord of hosts.
On the surface, those that will choose death rather than life will be those that are left behind and will go into captivity.
The second level is that this verse is talking about the Ten Scattered Tribes, not the current people in Jerusalem. How do I know that? Which remain in all the places whither I have driven them. That’s how.
It was the sins of the House of Israel that caused Father to drive them across the Caucasus Mountains and into Europe, the British Isles, Canada, and America.
✡ Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. KJV
Why would they seek death in this verse? Because they just found out that they have been worshipping and following Satan/Antichrist during the tribulation period and they know that now because the True Messiah has just appeared on the Mount of Olives.
They are so embarrassed and afraid that their mind screams for death to get away from it. They KNOW that they have messed up badly. Oh, some will probably say…
“This is my preacher’s fault. He should have told me about this false messiah coming first.”
Won’t matter. It was YOUR responsibility and you blew it.
Jeremiah 8:4 Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
Shall they fall, and not arise? If you fall down, it’s a natural instinct to pick yourself back up again but, spiritually, these people don’t do that. They have sunk so low into the pits of sin and abominable acts that nowhere in their brain do they think….
“Hey, I need to turn all this around. I need to get my life back together and make peace with the Father again.”
But they so enjoy what they’re doing that it never crosses their mind to do that. I mean, even a drunk will come to his/her senses eventually and stop drinking for even a short time and I speak from experience.
Shall he turn away, and not return? And the answer to that, for these people, is a resounding YES. They WILL turn away and NOT return.
People today are so content to just sit there in that pew and absorb the lies of religious systems over and over again. Or listen to some numb-nut on TV and grab their credit card to send them money for some CD that is going to change and enrich their lives immediately.
They are looking for something new, something that will change their lives for the better, and they turn to mankind instead of our Father.
Jeremiah 8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
They hold fast deceit. They cling to the lies of established religion, they will not pick up that Book and read the truth for themselves.
“Well, brother, you don’t understand, I’ve tried to read that Bible, but I don’t understand any of it.”
Father didn’t have this Book written to college graduates or even high school grads. If you can read the English language, then you can read the Bible with understanding. Go to the Gospels and read about the birth and life of our Lord.
Go to the Old Testament and read the history of the Israelites. Nothing too difficult there except maybe the names of the people and the city names.
For heaven's sake…..JUST TRY! And Father will count it as perfect, regardless of how much or how little you understand or retain in memory.
Jeremiah 8:6 I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
After all the words that He gave to Jeremiah to speak, He pauses and listens….NOTHING! No one repented of their sins or idolatry. A war-horse rushes into battle head-long with no hesitation. This is how Father describes these people and their fervor for sin.
They neither pause nor look off to either side. They rush forward, unwilling to wait for even a second for the pleasures of the flesh.
How does this relate today? Their preachers have convinced them that they have the right way, they don’t need to read and study the Bible. Why? Because the Great Escape Plan is in effect. The RAPTURE.
Just be kind and sweet, love Jesus, come here every Sunday morning and we’ll give you the spiritual food to get you through the week.
“Oh, and by the way, don’t forget to drop that check in the basket when it’s passed around.”
Satan doesn’t even have to work at it anymore. These little antichrists do his bidding without complaint and the deception continues generation after generation but be careful, my friends, because we are living in the LAST generation right now.
Jeremiah 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the Lord.
The stork, the crane, the turtle, and the swallow know when it’s time to migrate, it’s ingrained in their DNA and so it is with human beings. It is ingrained in their DNA that there is a power, a Creator, that is bigger than anything else on earth and it’s natural to seek Him out.
But He can be denied, obscured, pushed into the background of ones’ mind and conscience by the pleasures of the world and many people that go to some church every Sunday know in their hearts that what they are hearing is blasphemy.
They simply don’t want to change the way that they live. The corrupt deals in the business world go on even though some of the participants know that it’s wrong, but then money talks very loudly and is very difficult to walk away from.
And when those particular sins are committed, He requires restitution, along with repentance. And it soon becomes an inescapable situation.
Sometimes the animals and birds are smarter than we are.
But my people know not the judgment of the Lord. They will soon enough because it’s a’comin very soon.
Jeremiah 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
Father is asking a question here…. How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? He wants to know, based on how they act and live, how can they say that, how can you say that I am with you? Do they really think that the law of the Lord allows the abominations that they commit?
If they believe that statement then they are very, very stupid.
Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?
The wise men are ashamed. The wise men are PUT TO SHAME. They are supposed to be the religious leaders of the people and they are as corrupt and sinful as any of them.
Dismayed means to lie down or prostrate ones’ self, and taken means that they are caught, as in a net. Satan has them hook, line, and sinker. He’s leading them around as though they had a brass ring in their nose.
They have rejected the word of the Lord. How many people, today, have unknowingly rejected the Word of God? Millions of them. And if you ask them IF they have done that they will deny it to death.
If you sit in a pew for the better part of your life, every Sunday morning, and you listen to some prepared sermon, I am willing to bet that 99.9% of the words spoken will be from some man or woman and NOT from the Word of God.
And when the service is over, they go home and continue to live as they have for years, never opening that Book to read it for themselves, to check out that preacher and see if this rapture theory nonsense is Scriptural or not.
Why would anyone believe in a lie from some preacher when the truth is right there in that Book?
Jeremiah 8:10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
Therefore will I give their wives unto others. The enemy is going to take them for themselves, are they ready for that?
And their fields to them that shall inherit them. Doesn’t matter who WAS going to inherit your land, the enemy is going to take it for themselves and keep it.
What does covetousness mean in Hebrew?
✡ Covetousness_ OT:1215 betsa` (beh'-tsah); from OT:1214; plunder; by extension, gain (usually unjust):
The enemy, the Babylonians, are going to plunder your wife, your family, and all else that you own and after that, Father is going to put you into captivity.
So goes the rewards of sin.
Jeremiah 8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Who is the daughter of my people? Jerusalem. Father is talking about Jerusalem and the people therein. And the prophets, the king, the princes…everyone of them are telling the people that everything is going to be all right.
There will be no punishment; there will be no invasion from the enemy; the Temple will save y’all and not be destroyed. There will be peace all around.
Covetousness, today, is the government wanting everything that you own. It’s called socialism. They’re not going to come to your door, with a gun, and physically take it from you. They will do it a little at a time through taxation.
And the people in this country, the SHEEP, stand before these twenty-some Democratic candidates for the Presidency in 2020, ALL of whom have plans for socialism that will financially destroy the future of your grandchildren, and they applaud and laugh and jump around and wave signs and banners and can’t wait for it to happen.
“Right on, brother, take away our freedom. We want to be taken care of.”
Jeremiah 8:12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
What is this time of their visitation? Let’s go to the book of Luke and find out from the words of our Lord…
✡ Luke 19:43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
✡ Luke 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. KJV
This time of visitation is the day that our Lord returns, also known as the Lords’ Day. And anybody, any soul, that is covered with sin and corruption, as these people are, is in for a really BAD day. Spiritually speaking.
Jeremiah 8:13 I will surely consume them, saith the Lord: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.
They’re not only NOT going to get any blessings, but Father is also going to take away everything that they have even now. Don’t look for grapes on the vine or figs on the trees because they won’t be there. How will He do that?
Maybe a blast of hot wind from the west, from off the desert. He’s done that before.
Remember that fig tree that our Lord cursed in Mark, chapter 11?
✡ Mark 11:13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
✡ Mark 11:14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. KJV
Symbolically, when Christ talked to that fig tree He was talking about the end generation, the generation of the fig tree.
Jeremiah 8:14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the Lord.
And let us enter into the defenced cities. Get up! Let’s go hide from the Lord so He can do no more damage to us, we’ll let our fellow man protect us from the coming destruction.
Really? There they go again, looking to humanity to protect them instead of going to our Father.
And given us water of gall to drink. What is this gall to drink? It’s opium…
✡ Gall_ OT:7219 ro'sh (roshe); or rowsh (Deuteronomy 32:32) (roshe); apparently the same as OT:7218; a poisonous plant, probably the poppy (from its conspicuous head); generally poison (even of serpents):
They’re blaming our Father for the way that they’re acting, saying that He gave them water of the opium plant to drink. That He got them high on drugs.
Jeremiah 8:15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!
Of course, they looked for peace because the prophets told them to look for it, but it never came. Had they listened to Jeremiah they would have known better.
Jeremiah 8:16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
And here comes the enemy, the Chaldean army. The route that they would take to Jerusalem would go through the territory of Dan first. Dan is the farthest Tribe to the north which means that, during the end time, the enemy will come from the north.
Jeremiah 8:17 For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.
Life is not going to be very pleasant for them.
Jeremiah 8:18 When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.
This is Jeremiah speaking and he’s lamenting the coming destruction from the enemy on his people.
Jeremiah 8:19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?
Remember that the daughter of My people is Jerusalem.
Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? If they would just listen to Me, our Father is saying, life would be so much better for them. I would be their God and they would be My people.
Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
The end is near and still, we have not been raptured out of harm's way.
Jeremiah 8:21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.
Jeremiah still speaking concerning himself. I am black means that he is in mourning, dressed in black clothing, for the sorrow of his people.
Jeremiah 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? KJV
There is nothing in Gilead that will heal the soul and that’s where the problem lies, even today. Yes, it was the lust of the flesh body that got them in trouble, but it was Satan and his world that provided the temptation. And they fell for it.
Sinning is so much easier today than in the past. If you have a taste and desire for pornography, you only have to sit in your living room in front of your computer.
If you want to have sex with young women, hop on a Delta flight to Thailand, but have a pocket full of money to spend with you.
That’s one extreme. The other is to clasp your hands together, sit in that pew, and take in all the religious garbage that that preacher wants to feed you.
Either way, you’re in serious trouble with the Father.
